ADMISSION
Application Process
The first step to apply for a university is to fill the online application from that University website. If online application is not available for a particular university then download paper application from the university’s website. Once you have decided the university/college you wish to apply to, visit their website and order a free prospectus or “view book”. This will be so helpful.
There are three modes of applications: Early Decision/Early Action; Regular Decision; and Rolling Admissions. Irrespective of the mode, start the application process at least a year before the deadline. Early Decision is to decide about the university you want to join in. The difference between Early Action and Early Decision is that Early Decision demands a binding commitment to enrol; that means, if a student secures an admission under an early decision program the candidate must withdraw all other universities and colleges which he/she had applied earlier and enrols at that institute, whereas early action does not require binding. Also, under Early Decision students can only apply to one university whereas Early Action usually allows students to apply to several universities.
The advantage of applying under Early Action or Early Decision is that you have a greater chance of admission. But majority of students apply for Regular Decision phase. The candidate can apply through the Common Application (Common App) or through a University’s own application.
